# Page view trackers and “how many people…” popups

A page view tracker counts unique people who land on the pages you pick. A **Page Views** proof element then shows that count in a popup.

You do not need a tracker if you are only showing reviews, call-to-action popups, WooCommerce sales, or Custom.

## What it is for

“How many people…” copy. Two common uses:

**Recent traffic on this page.** Track the page itself. Example: 80 people viewed this page in the last 24 hours.

**Quote requests.** Track a thank-you page if you want the count to be people who submitted a form. Set the form so it sends people to a thank-you page on the WordPress site. When they land there, it counts. Example: 7 people contacted us in the last 72 hours.

## How to set it up

1. Click **Create Page View Tracker**. Name it and pick the pages to count.
2. Create a proof element of type **Page Views**. Attach that tracker. Set the time window (24 hours, 72 hours, 7 days, and so on).
3. Use `{number}` and `{time}` in the copy. The plugin fills those in.
4. Add that proof element to a [proof tree](/docs/proof-trees) and assign where the tree shows.

You can set a minimum count and a backup proof element if the number is too low.

## Forms

Many form plugins can redirect to a thank-you page, or have an add-on that adds it. Contact Form 7 has a Contact Form 7 Redirect plugin, for example. The tracker only counts people who land on the WordPress pages you picked. It does not read your form plugin’s database.
