Different proof on groups of pages

Use Pages in These Categories on a proof tree or a split test. That puts one set of popups on one group of pages, and a different set on another group, without picking each URL by hand.

It works for WordPress pages and posts. In WP Proof they both show up as pages.

This is useful when a site has groups of pages (HVAC, plumbing, a shop with collections, and so on).

How to set it up

  1. In WordPress, put the pages or posts into categories. Example: every heating / furnace page in Heating, every AC / cooling page in AC.
  2. In WP Proof, create a proof tree. On that screen, choose Pages in These Categories and pick the category you want.
  3. Create another proof tree for the next group. Choose Pages in These Categories and pick that group’s category.

Any later page or post you put in that category gets those popups. You do not have to open the tree again and change anything.

These trees only show on pages in the categories you picked. For other pages, you can use Selected Pages or All Except Selected Pages.

Example: HVAC

Heating repair / furnace pages might play furnace reviews, a click-to-call, recent quote requests, license, years in town, NATE.

AC install / cooling pages might play AC install reviews, factory authorization, EPA / NATE, warranty, recent quote requests, BBB.

You can reuse the same BBB, license, or years-in-town popups on both trees if you want.

Rules

  • A category can only sit on one proof tree. Saving another tree with that category takes it from the first tree.
  • A category can only sit on one split test the same way.
  • A category can sit on both a tree and a split test. The split test takes over when both match.
  • If one page is in two categories that belong to two different trees, or two different split tests, Category priority (a site-wide drag list) picks which one wins.
